This Privacy Policy explains how the developers of HomeBasis ("we," "us," or "our") collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the HomeBasis mobile application (the "App"). HomeBasis helps homeowners track their home's adjusted cost basis for tax purposes, including logging capital improvements, attaching receipts, and generating reports.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

When you create an account and use HomeBasis, we may collect the following information:

• Your name and email address (provided during account creation via Sign in with Apple or email/password registration)
• Property information such as purchase price, purchase date, and property address
• Capital improvement records including descriptions, dates, costs, and IRS classifications
• Receipt images and supporting documentation you upload
• Notes or annotations you add to your records

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App, we may automatically collect certain information, including:

• Device information (device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers)
• Usage data (features accessed, time spent in the App, interaction patterns)
• Crash reports and diagnostic data
• IP address and general location data (city/region level only)

2.3 Authentication Data

If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the information Apple provides based on your preferences (which may include a relay email address). We do not receive your Apple ID password. For email/password authentication, we securely store your credentials using industry-standard encryption.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To provide, maintain, and improve the App's functionality
• To create and manage your account
• To store and organize your capital improvement records and receipts
• To calculate your home's adjusted cost basis and estimate potential capital gains
• To generate exportable reports for your CPA or tax professional

• To monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the user experience
• To detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Supabase, a secure cloud infrastructure platform. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
• Secure authentication protocols
• Regular security assessments and updates
• Access controls limiting who can view your data

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With service providers who assist us in operating the App (such as cloud hosting and analytics providers), subject to confidentiality obligations
• When you explicitly choose to export or share your data, such as generating a report for your CPA

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the in-app support feature. We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by applicable law.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. Given that tax records may need to be retained for extended periods, we will keep your capital improvement records and related data for as long as you maintain an active account.

If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (for example, for tax, legal, or audit purposes).

8. Children's Privacy

HomeBasis is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

9. Third-Party Services

The App may contain links to or integrations with third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through the App.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the App and updating the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
